WWTT? Discover Puerto Rico’s New Campaign Focuses on Optimism

Who can say no to the idea of vacationing somewhere beautiful and inviting? In this episode of “What Were They Thinking?” Melissa shares the first campaign from Puerto Rico’s recently formed nonprofit destination marketing organization (DMO), Discover Puerto Rico. The new brand campaign, “Have We Met Yet?” launched in April, and is the first marketing campaign in 5-plus years by the Island.

According to a press release from the DMO, by posing the question of “Have We Met Yet?” this campaign re-introduces Puerto Rico to the world by continuing the effort to reposition the Island’s brand identity, and brings to life Puerto Rico’s exotic, yet familiar, essence. Leah Chandler, CMO of Discover Puerto Rico stated: “Puerto Rico’s people, its rich culture and unparalleled natural offerings — combined with the fact that it’s a U.S. territory and easily accessible – were key factors that led to this creative. We want to send a message to all travelers that this is THE year to visit Puerto Rico.”
