How PostReminder works

Created by the direct response experts

PostReminder was created by Respond Now, LLC, a direct response product incubator that helps businesses bring their ideas to market through direct marketing. The incubator is led by Mike Gunderson, founder and president of Gunderson Direct, which consistently ranks among the top five direct mail agencies in the U.S.

The radically simple idea to drive consumer action

As founder of Gunderson Direct, Mike Gunderson has led direct mail campaigns for dozens of top brands, including AAA, Adobe, PayPal, Square, and ZipRecruiter. Like all direct-response marketers, Gunderson wanted a better way to stay top-of-mind with consumers and motivate them to take action.

“We know how busy people are – especially when they’re walking in the door and looking through their mail,” he says. “Even if people are interested in a piece of direct mail, they usually set it aside and intend to get back to it at some point. But before they know it, too much time has gone by. The offer expired or the event ended, and they missed it.”

Gunderson had an idea during the pandemic: What if you could set a reminder for an offer or event? As soon as you got a piece of mail or saw an ad, you could opt-in to get texts and even a calendar invite. The idea seemed simple: Empower consumers to take action on their own schedule.

“This is an opportunity to engage consumers when it matters, which is when that sale, offer, movie, or other event actually happens,” Gunderson says.

The timing for the idea was right, too. As QR codes finally became mainstream, brands could direct consumers to sign up for reminders on every marketing platform: direct mail, OOH, DRTV, POS, posters, print ads, email, and web pages. Working with his team, Gunderson launched PostReminder in late 2022.

“Traditionally, on any direct response channel, you’re getting awareness with all of those marketing tactics, but there’s been no way actually to interact with the consumer after they see that ad,” Gunderson says. “I don’t say this lightly: PostReminder is a game-changer for direct response marketing. That’s because this is an opportunity to engage consumers when it matters, which is when that sale, offer, movie, or other event actually happens.”
